A RACE ON THE CARDS
National Racehorse Week is a partnership between the National Trainers&#8217; Federation and Great British Racing to celebrate Britain’s racehorses and promote welfare. It’s an annual celebration and a chance to see first-hand the love, care and attention that goes into looking after these incredible mammals.
Orangery worked on the design and development of an event website that would become the digital home to over 130 events held throughout the week. As a place to register, book tickets, find location-specific listings, and act as a central information hub, this was an ambitious digital product with a short race to the finish.

AN ACCESSIBLE APPLICATION
The event website is a clean, concise and easy-to-use WordPress build where photography and clear visual cues take the lead. The racehorses are centre stage with a consistent message of welfare and adoration, aligning with the event’s vision and values.
Big, bold headlines help to reinforce key messages, while the broader identity of the event influences the colours and shapes that make up the unobtrusive UI. Graduated banners and bespoke icons bring character to the application and careful attention to usability ensures that the app is accessible by all.

The team behind the website build are super friendly, with no issue/change too small. The website build itself was done professionally, and to a fairly tight deadline. A year on, there have been very minor edits to the website which I think is testament to the work and understanding the team strive to get in the beginning stages of the build.

A HUB FOR HORSES AND HUMANS
A carefully crafted user journey allows visitors to register for live and virtual events. Confirmation emails are automatically sent out, and a postcode search function enables users to find events that are local to them. Each event has a specific ‘guest list’ so the yard can see exactly who has booked.
WordPress’ robust and reliable content management functionality means that employees can easily manage pages, from editing details to adding entirely new events.

A WINNING RESULT FOR ALL
National Racehorse Week is a hugely successful initiative from Great British Racing that&#8217;s grown over the last three years to a record 209 events, 98 training yards, and several well-regarded retraining and rehoming centres. We were delighted to work with Great British Racing, and we look forward to its continued success in the years to follow.
