UNITING POINT-TO-POINT RACING IN THE DIGITAL AGE

01. OVERVIEW
GB Pointing is the official hub for Point-to-Point horse racing across Great Britain. It brings together race fixtures, results, news, and information for riders, trainers, owners and provides subscribers with access to locked content areas. Orangery was appointed to redesign and rebuild the website, increase the site functionality and help reduce the admin for the internal team by streamlining some of the back end processes.
Orangery knew we needed to provide a vibrant and energised look and feel in line with the brand values to better serve the sport’s growing digital audience.
We partnered on
- Web Design (UI)
- WordPress Development
- User Experience (UX)
- Shop

02. CHALLENGE
THE CHALLENGE
The client had two existing sites, gopointing and pointtopoint, the key was to merge content, functionality and different API feeds into one brand new site.
Existing sites had become outdated in design and difficult to manage, with fragmented content and an inconsistent brand user experience. The new site needed to balance the demands of a data-rich sporting platform with the storytelling and community spirit that sit at the heart of Point-to-Point racing.
The goal was to design and build a fast, modern site that could handle real-time updates via complex APIs from Weatherbys, while showcasing the energy and heritage of the sport. Key deliverables included Subscriber sign up with access to locked content areas, convert cumbersome Jockey RQC forms into easy to complete online forms and a Shop.

Transforming the Rider Qualification Certificate (RQC) Process
Every rider who competes in point-to-point events must hold a Rider Qualification Certificate (RQC) issued by the Point-to-Point Authority (PPA). The certificate confirms that each rider meets the required standards of competence and fitness to compete safely under British Horseracing Authority regulations.
Applying for an RQC was a manual, paper-heavy task. Riders had to download a PDF form, fill it in by hand, and submit it along with their medical documents and hunt signatory forms. For the PPA team, managing over 200 applications each year meant it was time-consuming for everyone involved.
Moving the RQC online
To improve the experience for both riders and administrators, Orangery has transformed the process with a new automated online RQC application form. The digital form guides applicants step-by-step, ensuring all the right details and documents are uploaded before submission.
What used to take days of back-and-forth can now be completed in minutes. The new system automatically checks for missing information, sends notifications when action is required, and securely stores all application data for easy access.

04. OUTCOME
