<p>The Samson Centre is an inspiring Guildford-based charity dedicated to helping people with multiple sclerosis live the best life they can. They provide expert therapy and a safe space to make friends and keep well, physically and mentally.</p>
<p>The charity needed a rebrand to elevate its brand in the charity sector. An improved look would help them secure funding, boost awareness and attract younger individuals affected by the disease.</p>

<h4><span class="heading-5">Brand strategy</span></h4>
<p>Orangery embarked on a discovery session to help Samson Centre rediscover and articulate the charity’s vision, mission and values. Through one-to-one stakeholder interviews and a charity-wide questionnaire, we were able to get a clear understanding of what the new brand must represent and achieve.</p>

<h4><span class="heading-5">Identity</span></h4>
<p>We settled on a humble and hopeful vision statement, “A beacon of hope and support for anyone living with MS in our local community”, which gave us a foundation to build the brand around.</p>
<p>By honouring the ‘roof’ motif from the previous logo, we were able to evolve the mark to represent old and new. A new ‘beacon’ was brought to life by a refreshed colour palette, of a brighter blue and a new, secondary green.</p>

<h4><span class="heading-5">Photography</span></h4>
<p>It was so important to tell the human story of the brand, because it’s the people who make Samson Centre such a unique and special place. Working with local professional photographer, Paul Mitchell, we captured uplifting friendships and the positive personalities of the centre.</p>

<h3 class="heading-3"><span class="heading-3">A Digital &amp; Physical charity reBrand</span></h3>
<p>This was more than a digital brand – with the new identity adorning essential items used by the charity in its fundraising and day-to-day operation, such as collection boxes, tabards, stationery and banners. We also provided an accessible suite of marketing, social, web and press assets.</p>

<h3 class="heading-3"><span class="heading-3">Inclusive Website Design</span></h3>
<p>Our careful attention to accessibility continued across the website, one of the charity’s main touchpoints. We discussed the sitemap and wireframes with user experience front-of-mind, understanding the specific needs of visitors with disabilities, such as visual impairment.</p>
<p>We worked closely with the charity to rewrite their web copy to be appealing and informative with a suitable tone of voice. By using quotes from various members of the charity and providing clear calls to action on each page, the website was instantly more emotive and engaging.</p>

<h3 class="heading-3"><span class="heading-3">A New Beacon of Hope</span></h3>
<p>The rebranded and relaunched website is a true reflection of the modern-day MS charity, clearly representing its vision and values as an organisation and a place for love, care and hope. A 100% Google Lighthouse score reassured us and all future visitors that the website is truly accessible. The feedback from members, staff and trustees alike has been so positive, and we were honoured and humbled to be able to help this incredible cause.</p>
